Every U.S. House seat and about a third of the Senate are on the ballot, along with many governorships and state/local races.
Registration deadlines vary by state — most fall 15 to 30 days before Election Day, roughly early-to-late October. A handful of states allow same-day registration. Don't rely on a national date — look up your own state's exact deadline, since this is the single most common way people accidentally lock themselves out of voting.
